The Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Monday, released a reviewed time table of its scheduled electioneering activities and primary elections.
According to a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alfa Mohammed at the party’s national headquarters, the adjustment became necessary, following the extension of the date for the collection and submission of the expression of interest and nomination forms from September 7 to September 18, 2018.
Mohammed explained that the party saw the need to make the adjustment in view of the demand by many aspirants for extra time to put their acts together.
The statement quoted the National Organizing Secretary of the party, Rt Honorable Emeka Atuma to have enjoined all the state chapters to be fully prepared and ensure hitch free screening and primary elections in their states.
Contrary to some media reports, the National Publicity Secretary said the official deadline for purchase and submission of expression of interest and nomination forms for all offices is Tuesday September 18, 2018, not September 19.
He disclosed that while screening of aspirants commences on Friday 21-Saturday 22, 2018, the state House of Assembly Primaries(nomination of candidate) has been scheduled for Sunday September, 23, 2018, adding, the House of Representatives congresses comes up Monday September 24, 2018.
“For the senatorial District Congresses, it would hold Tuesday September 25, 2018 and Appeals on Shoa Primaries, House of Representatives Congresses and Senatorial District Congresses will hold Wednesday 26-Thursday 27 respectively.
“Governorship Primaries (State Congresses) will hold Friday September 28, 2018 and Appeals on Guber primaries, Sunday September 30,2018,” the statement said.
The statement further disclosed that: “The Presidential Primary Elections(National Convention) will hold Saturday 6, October while Appeals on Presidential primaries is slated for October 7, 2018 and the NWC would present certificates of returns to all candidates on Saturday, October, 20, 2018.”
